Science Week

Science week took place on Mon 13th November to Fri 17th November.

First years did science projects on one of the following topics:

Life cycle of a star
Carbon Footprint
A spoonful of sugar

The winner was Luca Kulczynsk

Second years did science projects on one of the following topics:

Black Hole
Food, Glorious Food
Climate change

The winner was Orna Sweeney

Third years took part in a science table quiz on Thurs 16th November 2017. Transition year students assisted in running the quiz. It was a very enjoyable morning for both students and teachers.

The winning team members: Archie Connolly, Sam Owosho, Cian Perill and Sean Lecathelinais.

Transition years took part in a science photography competition called ‘SCIENCE OF MY LIFE’.

The winner was Kate McGuinness

On the 16th November, Eoin Timlin, Ciara Kennedy and Eoin Martin took part in the regional rounds of the ISTA senior science quiz. Out of the 27 secondary schools that participated the Rice College students were one of the 5 teams on the night to secure a place in the National Final which took place in Trinity College on Saturday the 25th of November. Congratulations to all the students and teachers involved.

On Monday 22nd January, all first and second year students attended the Stardome, a mobile planetarium that visited our school, where the explored the wonders of the night sky.
