Parents Association

The association was founded in the mid 1980s and is affiliated to the National Federation of Christian Brothers’ Schools Parents’ Council. There is also a regional council consisting of Christian Brothers’ Schools in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary.

Parents’ representatives from each year group are elected to the association at its AGM. The school principal or deputy principal and another representative of the teaching staff are ex-officio members.

The role of the association is primarily advisory and consultative on behalf of the parents who elect it. It also helps the college to provide wider opportunities for involvement by parents in a positive and constructive manner.

In this era of pressure to attain educational goals, the parents’ association is an ideal link between college and home. The mutually supportive roles of the association and college authorities help to develop and reinforce the view that progress depends on partnership—partnership of college, home and student.

The association organises lectures and discussions at regular intervals (on topics pertinent to the education of the students) for the benefit of parents. These sessions help to inform parents and enable them to keep abreast of educational developments, thereby providing a greater understanding of the students and their needs. Parents are encouraged to take an active interest in the association.
